比如最近几年科技类文章增多,像algorithm(算法)、artificial intelligence(人工智能)、data analysis(数据分析)这类词出现频率上升。

The government must address the issue of poverty.
The data presents a clear picture of the trend.
The experiment subjects the material to high pressure.
Keep me company while I cook.
There are fine details in the document.
That sounds like a good plan.
It doesn’t matter what you say.
Please place the book on the table.

  • abandon = ab(离开)+ andon(跟随)→ 不再跟随 → 放弃
  • abnormal = ab(离开)+ normal(正常)→ 不正常 → 反常的
  • abrupt = ab(离开)+ rupt(断裂)→ 突然断开 → 突然的
  • abuse = ab(离开)+ use(使用)→ 偏离正常使用 → 滥用
  • absorb = ab(离开)+ sorb(吸收)→ 吸走 → 吸收

  • inspect = in(向内)+ spect(看)→ 往里看 → 检查
  • respect = re(反复)+ spect(看)→ 反复看 → 尊敬
  • suspect = sub(在下面)+ spect(看)→ 在下面偷偷看 → 怀疑
  • perspective = per(通过)+ spect(看)+ ive → 透过现象看本质 → 观点

abandon, abnormal, abrupt, abuse, absorb, access, account, accumulate

recover, recognize, reduce, reflect, reinforce, remarkable, recommend

disagree, disappear, discover, disappoint, disturb, distribute

词根 group 1: -spect-(看)
inspect, respect, suspect, perspective, spectator, spectacle

vision, visualize, provide, evident, advise, revise

词根 group 3: -dict-(说)
  predict, dictate, dictionary, contradict, verdict

“The researchers challenged the conventional wisdom that economic growth necessarily leads to environmental degradation.”

  • significant(重大的)
  • crucial(关键的)
  • vital(至关重要的)
  • essential(基本的)
  • pivotal(核心的)
